Scaffolding - Intermediate & Advanced (SIA)
Note: Scaffolding Intermediate and Advanced can be combined into one course.
Aims and outcomes
This course will give participants the necessary skills and knowledge to plan, prepare & complete advanced scaffolding work as prescribed by the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work. On completion of this course participants will be able to manage risks, select and inspect gear and construct and dismantle hung scaffolds.
Pre requisite
Participants must hold a Basic Scaffold (SB) High Risk Licence.
Course Content
The Intermediate and Advanced Scaffolding course is mapped to the Nationally Recognised units of competency:
CPCCSC3001A Erect and dismantle intermediate scaffolding
CPCCBC4046A Erect and dismantle advanced scaffolding
- Legislation, Australian Standards, National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work, codes of practice and company scaffolding procedures.
- Company risk management procedures and scaffolding risk control
- Plan Work - Site requirements and rules; site hazard identification; emergency procedures; priorities; scaffold fit for the purpose.
- Rope work including bowline; clove hitch; timber hitch; rolling hitch; use of gin wheels.
- Identify scaffold components and use; identify damaged components.
- Tube and Coupler Scaffolds including suspended; hung.
- Minimums and Maximums for Suspended & Hung Scaffolds - Counter levering/counter weight; tying of scaffolds.
- Estimation of Material
- Practical Training - Erect suspended scaffold; dismantle scaffold and stow
Certification
Successful candidates will be awarded the Nationally Recognised unit(s) of competency CPCCSC3001A Erect and dismantle intermediate scaffolding and/or CPCCBC4046A Erect and dismantle advanced scaffolding , recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
Candidates will be awarded the SI and/or SA High Risk Licence.
