Forklift Operation (LF)
Aims and outcomes
This course aims to give candidates the necessary skills and knowledge to plan, prepare and operate a counterbalanced forklift safely and efficiently in accordance with the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work. On completion of this course candidates will be able to conduct routine checks; plan work; check controls, operate, shift various load types and shut down a forklift truck.

There are no pre requisites.
Course Content
The Forklift course is mapped to the nationally recognised unit of competency:
TLID2010A Operate a forklift Operate a forklift
- Legislation, Australian Standards, National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work, guidance notes and company forklift procedures.
- Company risk management procedures and forklift risk control
- Forklift types and capacity requirements, stability attachments, workplace hazards and controls relevant to forklift operation.
- Forklift components, pre-start/pre-operation checks, data plate identification/interpretation, operating procedures, shift loads.
- Shift various loads, perform stacking at different heights and load/unload truck, shut down/post operational checks carried out, parking up.
Certification
Successful candidates will be awarded the Nationally Recognised unit of competency TLID2010A Operate a forklift Operate a forklift, recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
Candidates will be awarded the LF High Risk Licence.
Duration
8 hours over 1 day (experienced operators) or 16 hrs over 2 days (non-experienced operators).
