Confined Space Training (CSP)
Aims and outcomes
The aim of this course is to provide candidates with the necessary skills and knowledge to safely enter and work in confined spaces including identifying confined spaces, planning, atmospheric testing and conditions, risk management and control measures and emergency response. Candidates will gain knowledge in and work in accordance with Australian Standard 2865:2009 Confined Spaces, other legislative requirements, site procedures and best practice.

There are no pre requisites for this course.
Course Content
This Confined Space Training course is mapped to the Nationally Recognised Unit of Competency:
RIIOHS202A Enter and work in confined spaces;
and AS2865:2009 including:
- Legislative requirements and company confined space entry procedures and permits
- Accountability and responsibility – standby and authorised persons
- Identification principles
- Design and modification
- Communication and consultation
- Training and competency
- Risk management and risk control
- Confined space hazards including atmospheric conditions and testing
- Emergency response procedures
- Isolation techniques and company isolation procedures
- Purging vs ventilation techniques including company purging/ventilation procedures
- Permits and authority
- Respiratory and other relevant PPE
- Record keeping
- Industry case studies
Certification
Successful candidates will be awarded the Nationally Recognised unit of competency: RIIOHS202A Enter and work in confined spaces recognised within the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF)
Axis issue a statement of attainment and wallet card.
